Today the Managing Director of World Bank Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has visited Construction sites in Kyzylorda region of international transit corridor “Western Europe-Western China”
During the visit in region of arrived delegation consisting of Deputy Prime-Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Orynbayev, Vice-Minister of transport and communications Azat Bekturov has discussed the construction progress of transit corridor, issues of development of road service, perspectives of further development of cooperation between Government of RK and World Bank in transport sector in whole.
As informed by Press Service of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala – upgrade of this key infrastructure already demonstrates the fact, that it can be significant driver for economic growth, creating workplaces, providing more effective movement of goods and people, increasing the safety of road traffic and enhancing industrial, agricultural and commercial activity along this historical way”,
For reference: Total length of transit corridor “Western Europe-Western China” is 8 445 km, from which 2 787 km pass the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The World Bank funds the works on section from Aktobe region-Kyzylorda-Shymkent by total length 1062 km in amount of 2 125 mln. USD.
“Cooperation between the bank and other financial institutes and involved state bodies created conditions for successful project realization. 21 Contracts were signed, provided by project for execution of construction works in Kyzylorda and South-Kazakhstan regions” – noted in wide-spread press-release.
As told by Okonjo Iweala – the project is successfully going on. There is significant affection on development of construction industry and process of provision of workplaces. So, as of today in frames of project realization 30 000 new workplaces were created.
